SugarKISCOL's 5,500 hectares of cultivated cane for the sugar processing facility will see 3000 tonnes of cane crushed per day at the company's sugar mill processed and introduced to the Kenyan, Regional and International market. Since Kenya acquires refined sugar through importation, in future, KISCOL plans to provide an alternative by refining its sugar for the local market and supply to local companies. |
EthanolKISCOL intends to install a state-of-the-art distillery for production of 30,000 litres Ethanol from molasses as a by product of sugar production. Ethanol can be used for bio fuel blending, spirits, yeast and carbon dioxide, all products that are intended for production. Bio fuel blended into bio diesel is eco friendly as it is made from renewable resources and has lower emissions compared to petroleum diesel. |
Electricity CogenerationBagasse, a by product of sugar production will be used by KISCOL as the main raw material for electricity generation. 75% of electricity produced will be used for interernal purposes with 25% being exported to the power grid. |
