National Environment Management Authority (NEMA)

We are a green company focusing on environmental conservation in our projects. Our drip irrigation system for water conservation as well as green cane harvesting provides a substitute for cane burning. We also engage in tree planting exercises within Kwale County. Our nursery of 9 different species of trees sustains our tree donation program whereby trees are donated to various schools and organizations in Kwale for environmental conservation. We have also planted trees on the parts of the fields that are prone to erosion. KISCOL is also registered at the UNFCC for carbon credits which will be achieved through the electricity generation project. Visit their site

Community Leaders

Outgrowers

The company works with outgrowers in Kwale who are the main beneficiaries of the project. We have at least 1200 registered outgrowers who are set to produce sugarcane on 4,200 hectares of land. The outgrowers supply cane and earn revenue through this venture. Outgrowers will also enjoy additional benefits as KISCOL intends to provide education and a medical scheme for them and their families, grading of roads for farm access and availability of water for crop and home use.

Kenya Sugar Research Foundation (KESREF)

KISCOL works with KESREF to ascertain the types of sugar cane that would be suitable for production on the Nucleus and outgrowers estates. It also donated a motorbike to the Kwale Office to enable their officers reach farmers located in the interior parts of the county. Visit their site
